SHEIKH CHILLI TOMB and COMPLEX

DESCRIPTION- 

Seikh chilli tomb is a famous and most beautiful monument in Haryana, Its also known as a Taj of Haryana. Seikh Chilli was a sufi saint and teacher of Mughal prince Dara Sikoh, the eldest son of Shahjahan, and this tomb was built by Dara sikoh in memory of our Sufi teacher. there is a another tomb in thix complex and believed to be of Seikh chilli's wife and his family.The tomb, overlooking the madarasa and standing on an artificial terrace, is octagonal in shape with the entrance in the south. I This beautiful tomb and attached Madrasa are associated with the Sufi Saint Abd-ur-Rahim. There is a mosque called Pather Masjid (Stone Mosque) that was built in red sandstone. On the north side are the Mughal Gardens with chaar bagh pattern and Harsh ka tilaa. Now this complex has a Dara sikoh Library, Archaeological Museum.John Dawkins, the then collector of Thaneshar, was instrumental in getting the tomb repaired in 1854 AD. The antiquities recovered from the excavations at Harsh ka Tilla and Bhagwanpura (both failing in the district of Kurukshetra) are displayed in two small museums of the madarasa building. This tomb complex is a well maintained with good facilities for visitors.

ARCHITECTURE - The Architectural plan shows considerable Persian Influence. the material used in construction is - Buff sandstone, Marble, Lakhauri Bricks, and Lime plaster. The tomb is built in octagonal shape. and chattris built in all around the tomb. The tomb rest on a circular drum and drum rest on octagonal plan roof, foriated parapet are all around the roof and cornice, Latice work in windows, One bay of arch in multifoileted, which is surrounding the tomb. Tomb built in upper side of the rectangular shape madrasa.
